SWEET TOOTH

Dessert tables are all the rage for birthday parties, weddings and holiday celebrations and Amy Atlas creates the most chic designs. Here is a collection of her to-die-for creations that are both pleasing to the eye and the belly!
Visit Amy Atlas Events and follow these tips from Amy to create a sweet ending to your next celebration:

1. Take something that inspires you and create your dessert table around it. The design can be something as personal as a family heirloom to as simple as the pattern on the host's invitation. Let the dessert table tell a story about the event so that the dessert not only becomes functional, but becomes part of the event design.

2. Create a beautiful backdrop for your dessert table. Decor elements complete the look of a table and a fabulous backdrop is the perfect way to incorporate artistry to the table.

3. Pick beautiful linens and unique vessels to dress up your dessert table. Since your sweets will be the star of your dessert table, the linens and vessels should have a coordinated, tailored look.

4. Always sample your dessert vendors before using them for your event. A beautiful cake is not always the best tasting cake! The key is to find the right balance. Pick desserts that not only look good together, but provide a balance for your guests' palate.

5. Incorporate some type of tag element to dress up the dessert table. This will show your guests how personal your table is. You can do this yourself, or have a graphic designer create personalized tags for you.

J'ADORE

Imagine my glee when this morning I stumble upon the epitome of French furnishings! "Oooo" and "Ahhh" is all that is heard as I surf the pages of what is now my favorite TRES CHIC find, Sweetpea & Willow! I have dreamt of such a place, where chic Parisian style meets even chicer French furniture. This is my Oz!
Here, a collection of eye candy I had to share. I want it all, in every color and fabric available! Good thing the Sweetpea & Willow showroom is in the UK, otherwise I would be in serious trouble!
Happy Saturday indeed! TRES CHIC!

TAKE A BOW

Fashion designer Christian Lacroix took a final bow in Paris Tuesday at what was likely his last haute couture show. Lacroix filed for the equivalent of Chapter 11 last May to fight off creditors and will ultimately close the doors to his 22-year-old fashion empire at the end of the month. But Lacroix, best known for his theatrical style, is banking (literally) on two possible investors to keep the House of Lacroix afloat.
For the final show on July 7, 2009 during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Lacroix reportedly paid models out of his own pocket, while friends and private donors gave their time and money to help produce the final (?) collection.
Without Lacroix, fashion will suffer a creative blow. Here's hoping a fashion fairy godmother saves the day!

BABY LOVE

It's the cradle of love, the room where little ones will rest their weary head. Decorating for a baby's room can be exciting but also challenging! To get your creative juices flowing check out this collection of chic nurseries.
A tip to keep in mind: Pick one wall, say the one the crib is on, and make it the focal point of the room. Use paint, wallpaper, stencils or art to make that wall pop! Add a unique lighting fixture to the space, plus a comfy rocker, then tie all the room's colors together with the bedding or a fun rug. Enjoy and congratulations on becoming a parent!

VAMP IT UP!

For fashion that doesn't suck, Hollywood "It Girls" like Taylor Momsen (Gossip Girl) and the Olsen Twins are taking a cue from the current Vampire obsession. With dark smokey eyes, blood red lips, black polish and a pale complexion, these girls know how to vamp it up! Thanks to huge book-to-screen hits like True Blood (Second Season now on HBO), the Twilight Saga (second film New Moon due out November 2009) and The Vampire Diaries coming to The CW this Fall, it looks like the fangs are here to stay!
