QUIT LOAFING AROUND!

Audrey made them cool in Funny Face...

Alicia brought them back in Clueless...

Leighton made them chic again on Gossip Girl...

Lea made the tweens fall for them on Glee...

And Alexa gave them fashion street cred!

The Penny Loafer! A classic, all-American shoe that has style staying power! And guess what? They are on-trend again!

My mother introduced me to the penny loafer at a young age and I have always loved the way they made an outfit look chic without trying. My mom looked so chic (and still does!) wearing a crisp, white, button down shirt, dark jeans and a pair of penny loafers. I adopted the effortless look in my early high school years (before my experiment with Doc Martens- which lasted all of a few months!) and I continue to adore the chic style of a loafer. Which is why I was happy to see the look pop up again in department stores like Nordstrom- where I used to find the perfect pair! But not since the early 2000s have I seen so many styles available! So I welcome you loafer virgins to give this classic a try and see why no matter what the "trend" is, they will always be in style!

Above, an outfit both Gossip Girl and Glee gals would rock! Pair cream loafers, black tights, a quilted chain bag, a vintage dress with a turtleneck underneath, topped with a girly peacoat and ta-da! The perfect ensemble to showcase your loafers!

Try these on for size!
