Fashion designer Christian Lacroix took a final bow in Paris Tuesday at what was likely his last haute couture show. Lacroix filed for the equivalent of Chapter 11 last May to fight off creditors and will ultimately close the doors to his 22-year-old fashion empire at the end of the month. But Lacroix, best known for his theatrical style, is banking (literally) on two possible investors to keep the House of Lacroix afloat.
For the final show on July 7, 2009 during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Lacroix reportedly paid models out of his own pocket, while friends and private donors gave their time and money to help produce the final (?) collection.
Without Lacroix, fashion will suffer a creative blow. Here's hoping a fashion fairy godmother saves the day!
